Welcome to the homepage of the University of Evansville Student Chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). As the student chapter president, I welcome you to the exciting world of Civil Engineering at the University of Evansville. In 2012 the student chapter will be involved with many exciting activities.

The Great Lakes Regional Competition (GLRC) was hosted by Bradley University last year and will be held at Trine University in the spring of 2013. Our ASCE chapter is very competitive in the major GLRC events:

• The concrete canoe competition (our 13th year in competition)
• The AISC steel bridge contest (our 6th year in competition)

The top team in each event will advance to their respective national competitions. The National Concrete Canoe Competition will be held at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champagne in the summer of 2013. The National Steel Bridge Competition will be held at Texas A&M May 20-21, 2011. Both of these competitions spark a great amount of rivalry between universities, but we also make many friends along the way.

The University of Evansville ASCE chapter is active in the community, sponsoring the annual Balsa Wood Bridge Competition which is held at the University of Evansville as a part of National Engineer's Week. Organized and run entirely by UE ASCE members, the competition shows younger area students just how much fun Civil Engineering can be, while giving them a chance to compete with others in building the strongest bridge. We also participate in hosting “Webelo’s Day” for local Boy Scouts to receive their engineering badge and “Space Day” for all local elementary and middle school students.

Please browse the website and get to know us better, and feel free to contact us if you have any questions or would like more information about the UE ASCE student chapter.
