ASCE Student Chapter

University of Evansville ASCE Student Chapter:
We're all that we're cracked up to be!

Welcome to the homepage of the University of Evansville Student Chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). As the student chapter president, I welcome you to the exciting world of Civil Engineering at the University of Evansville. In 2009 the student chapter will be involved with many exciting activities.

The Great Lakes Regional Competition (GLRC) was hosted by UE last year and will be held at Notre Dame this year. Our ASCE chapter is very competitive in the GLRC events:

  • the concrete canoe competition (our ninth straight year) and
  • the AISC steel bridge contest.

The top team in each event will move up to the national competition held this year at the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa. Both of these competitions spark a great amount of rivalry between universities, but we also make many friends along the way.

The University of Evansville ASCE chapter is active in the community, sponsoring the annual Balsa Wood Bridge Competition which is held at Evansville's Washington Square Mall as a part of National Engineer's Week. Organized and run entirely by UE ASCE members, the competition shows younger area students just how much fun Civil Engineering can be, while giving them a chance to compete with others in building the strongest bridge.

Please feel free to browse the website and get to know us better, then contact us if you have any questions or would like more information about the UE ASCE student chapter.
