Balsa Wood Bridge Building Contest
Every year, the University of Evansville ASCE Student Chapter sponsors a balsa wood bridge building contest for area elementary, middle, and high school students. Bridges are built by the students and load tested at Washington Square Mall in Evansville as a part of the National Engineer's Week Celebration. This Year's Event - RESULTSWashington Square Mall The bridges are displayed and loaded to failure in the center court of Washington Square Mall. The bridges will be scored and ranked by their efficiency (load to weight ratio). Awards will be given in each division:
In addition, a scholarship will be given to the high school Junior with the highest ranking bridge. Rules and Material Pick-upKoch Center Annex The registration fee of $12 for individuals and $20 for a team of two covers the cost of the wood and a T-shirt for each participant.
